I've been a software coding "coach" in the Benicia Unified School District for three years helping teach 4th graders in all four elementary schools how easy it is to learn how to code. Software is everywhere, in our cars, our homes, and our gadgets. We should learn how to speak the language of computers. I've been impressed by the level of enthusiasm and especially the level of tenacity the students persue in trying to figure out how to build their own games or just follow along in the tutorials. Through these three years, I learned my true passion is teaching, and witnessing the sparks in these young minds when they figure out how something works. I decided it was time to launch a coding academy in Benicia where students can pick up coding skills earlier in life.
